Summer 2012

At the beginning of summer, before it got too hot, we decided to get some trees to plant along our back fence.  Our neighbors are super close to us in the back and so we wanted to plant some trees that would provide some privacy in years to come.  Little did we know that this project would be such a HUGE headache.  We planned where we wanted them and had them spaced out.  But, once we started digging we realized that the sprinkler lines were in the way (crooked of course).  For 2 of the holes all it took was moving them out a little and there would be room for the trees, but the other 2 were complete disasters.  The one we wanted outside our bedroom wouldn't work at all because every foot there was a new sprinkler line the whole width of the yard.  Ugh.  It was quite the headache and it sure was a lot of digging.  We got 2 flowering pears and 2 Canadian red cherry trees.

Jordan was nice enough to come help get the trees in the holes, since my pregnant self just couldn't do the heavy lifting.  Thanks Jordan!

Carter had lots of fun following Derek around the yard this summer "helping" to cut the grass.  One day they were even wearing matching clothes.  So cute!  He loves to help his dad.

In July we made our 2nd road trip to visit my parents in California.  We left earlier in the day this time and drove a lot when they were awake.  It worked out pretty well and they did a good job.  While there we went swimming a lot, shopping, visited family, hung out and celebrated the 4th of July.

Carter crashed his little play motorcycle and got a big scrape.

Addison was in heaven helping my mom embroider princesses on some shirts.

Lots of summer playtime in the house!  Eating marshmallows, a favorite treat.

We ventured out camping once on our ward campout.  We brought tin foil dinners to cook and smores.  The kids had a lot of fun playing with their friends and in the tent.

Reading books.  They love to play together, but tend to fight a lot too.  Its a love/hate relationship.  :)   The kids and I spent a lot of days going to parks, swimming in our little pool outside, and playing inside.  It was a fun and HOT summer.
